Back in the day, things were quite simple – you had your blog, and that was about it. Enter social media: micro-blogging this, aggregating that… it can get quite annoying to keep track of every single posting.

Smart bloggers plan ahead and schedule their virtual appearances. Wouldn’t it be great if there was one central hub for cross-scheduling posts on different platforms like twitter, WordPress, TumblR and so on? Luckily there is, and even though postlater asks for a monthly fee, the service is definitely worth the money:

PostLater.com.

The Austrian elections are an excellent example of how not to harness the power of the web. While some of the smaller parties simply lack the power of scaling to mobilize enough people, the big parties exclusively relied on display-ads and one way communiation.

Some Austrians even claimed that those parties were actually misusing if not raping services like Twitter and Facebook. A succesful viral campaign needs to anticipate the reaction of its target group. And more than that, it needs to adopt to those reactions and change accordingly – and this has just not happenend. Another chance passed by, better luck next time.

“The Website Marketing Mind Map: Internet Marketing Made Easy” is the title of a rather extensive meme-map of our trade. It’s available over at SEObook and I’m pretty sure it took the author a while to compile all those buzzwords into one giant map.

And it’s instructive, too: despite the first impression that one won’t learn too much from a simple heap of words connected by lines is – plain wrong. Maybe not the most apt poster for your daily morning meditation, but definitely worth a look . I bet you never expected online marketing to consist of so many different sub-areas.

Check it out, jacks of trade: the map is available in different file formats.
